Smiling time - The expression 'smiling time' refers to the practice, standard in the watch and clock industry, to have the clock's hands stopped at ten past ten (or ten to two) when taking the photographs of the products to be used in advertising. This is done so as not to cover any of the features of the clock's face under the hands, and to leave a 'cheerful' impression (hence 'smiling' time).
